I was woken up at a bit after 6am today - grump, I have holidays! But it did pay off: We got to the Vatican really early and didn't have to queue a minute for the St Peter's Church!!
We came back there later because it was on our way home and the queue was completely over the square :D
The church was beautiful, and we even went up to the top with a gorgeous view... Wow.
Later I was in the Angel's Castle and the Pantheon too, which was also cool. Now we're about to go to an Italian restaurant *-*
This is a beautiful scene. I love how the bright clearing up top reminds me of St. Peter's Dome!
Wasn't the Pantheon amazing? Did you notice the small house directly across the street? That is the house where St. Peter was imprisoned before he was executed. The chains they used to secure him to the walls are on display in a nearby Church (appropriately named "Saint Peter in Chains."
