I decided to take up the challenge of ONS3 and first tried to conceptualize what might look interesting in b&w. I have to admit that whenever I have turned a color photo into b&w thus far has been because I couldn't get the color to look natural and the light had been hard to work with. So seeking a b&w image to begin with was a new assignment for me. I changed my camera setting to monochrome so I could see what the image would be since my eye (I only see out of one) had a hard time convincing my brain what a color image would turn out to be in b&w. Clearly, I need practice on this concept. I photographed old buildings in downtown, the late 1930s WPA-funded post office building, old toys, and ultimately this row of bottles in a restaurant where I had lunch. My photo buddies gave me feedback in selecting this one for its wide shot and because it included the shelf along the bottom (not appearing to be "floating bottles" in space like the other photo I took.). Nothing like ONS challenge to stretch into a new arena of photo taking.
