Old City, New City by jyokota

Old City, New City

I chose this photo for the contrast I tried to depict -- the old, crumbling building in the castle area (with one part kept up to date) to the new buildings in the background. But ultimately, I feel like the photo is too divided. It's almost like the two parts don't go together very well. I wonder if I could have shot more foreground or background and better balanced the shot?
I think the contrast between new and old here works well

I love the texture on that old building. The little door is interesting. The mountains are gorgeous.

I agree with Bill. I like the contrast between old and new that you captured. I usually try all kinds of compositions when I'm shooting and then decide on my favorite later when I upload them. So in this case I would have tried more foreground and more background as well as this lovely shot.

Great comparison shot. What contrast between the areas.

Honestly I don't feel any division. I like how you captured the old very prominent infront and some of the modern shinnig through in the background. Great photo for me. I like how you got the flag in there, too!

For me this composition really does work: textures colours and plenty of interest.
