Swiss Accordionist by jyokota

Swiss Accordionist

As I was packing for my extended trip away from home, I knew I'd miss my macro lens so I decided to play with it. I found these very small Swiss carvings (about two inches tall) and created a small "studio" at the edge of my dining room floor. Ott light for "true colors" even at nearly midnight, and placemat to cover the woodgrain on the floor. I positioned the listening couple at various angles, alternately focused on the accordion player and blurred one (or both) of them, focused on the listeners and blurred the accordion player, etc. I had so much fun arranging and rearranging, etc. that it took me days to figure out which one I wanted to post. Ultimately, it was the first photo of the lot because I thought each had an equally important role in this scene.

Fantastic Junko! You were so clever for creating this shot, thinking of everything from lighting to flooring! These are terrific 'go to' figures to use on in between sorts of days.

@vankrey -- what a great word to describe the mood -- endearing. I like that. I found these little figures in an antique shop and they reminded me of my grandparents' Swiss carved figures I photographed earlier. @jodimuli -- thanks !!!
@taffy -- YOU are the reason I thought of a "flooring" for this composition . . . I remembered you explaining to me how you moved your composition from the wood floor and why. The light? Well, it was 10 pm, unlike what it says on the information box!
