Westhafen Canal by jyokota

Westhafen Canal

Berlin, Germany. Initially, I thought, wait -- I thought Berlin was landlocked . . . where did all those boats come from? I wondered. But it's a port on a canal that connects to River Spree. Temporary StaBi location in big building on the left. That's where I'm doing my research fellowship for three months.
Very Interesting shot. Looks to be a very historical area. Do you mind if I ask where in the world this is?

@kevinmckay -- sorry for not writing about his one! It's in Berlin, and the description can be found at my February 21 page. I had a crazy busy transition week trying to get settled in Berlin and so I'm posting my photos backwards!

I like your urban landscape theme. Wide angle is paying off.

This is interesting...never having travelled, I find these kind of shots really appeal.

@taffy @lynnb @blincodave -- thanks for visiting and commenting! I had initially found this photo a little dull, but it does portray the day as it was. Gray. Gloomy. Industrial. Part of the problem is that whenever I use my little Canon point and shoot, I'm disappointed because the photo is never as good as I could have gotten with my SLR. The dilemma: carry the heavy SLR around all day (because once i leave my flat in the morning, I have to carry everything around all day long in my computer bag!) or learn to be satisfied with the little Canon point and shoot in order to spare my back? As you all know, you can't predict the moment in which you find an image or scene waiting to be photographed!
