Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church by jyokota

Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church

I had only been taking photos of my "getting used to daily life in Berlin" but late one night, I decided to take a break from my writing and take advantage of the area in which I am staying only for this week. I walked along Kurfürstendamm, a major high-end shopping street that wasn't interesting to photograph, until I came to this church.

This is a portion of the modern church built alongside the heavily war-damaged original building that is iconic to Berlin. I photographed it from various angles, but I chose this one for the way in which the tree in front of it cast an organic shape across the sea of squares.
Jim says "beautiful!" I agree. I like the hint of the tree.

Nice effect. The natural element seems to be trying to get free from the metal grid.

Wow, this is lovely! The tree's branches seem to meld with the man-made material.

This really is geometrically stunning. I love the brooding colors against the cold black grid. The tree totally makes it!
