We arrived in Hiraizumi and went to Moutsuji, a famous temple and green known for its Heian Period style with its large expanse of lawn, pond with rocks representing the coastline, and a starkness we had not encountered before.
We were fortunate to see the huge array of irises in full bloom during the Iris Festival. Having seen the famous irises in Tokyo's Meiji Garden, it was fun to find out that all of these flowers came from there originally.
This bee was very determined to dig into the iris and was covered in pollen by the time he pulled out.
