We took a leisurely boat ride down the river at Geibikei Gorge, near Hiraizumi in Iwate Prefecture, and this wonderful view was found by taking a short walk during the trip. You take off your shoes and sit on cushions on the straw mat, and gaze at the towering cliffs, the reflections on the water, and watch the huge fish swim by while our boat navigator told us about the views and sang a Japanese folksong from Hokkaido.
