This wildlife rescue center takes in animals in need of help (hurt, abandoned, abused, etc.) with the hope that they will be able to return to nature when rehabilitated. The place opens up into the rainforest and animals and birds are free to leave when they feel able, but they can also return when they feel they need care. Run entirely by volunteers, they give tours in order to raise money to support the place.
I cropped this one sideways, but left in enough to show that this baby monkey was getting a ride on a man's shoe and hanging onto his pants.
Have you run out of space on your computer, your external drive, your extra external drives, since starting 365? I did -- and had to wait until today to download the rest of my photos from my trip! Computer crashed and had to go to the hospital for 5 - 7 days (panic attack while all this was going on . . .) but thank heavens for @actionscientist working at the Apple Store, who rescued the Aperture Photo Library!!
And I hope you will take better care of your library from now on. I am paranoid about my Lightroom collection, and have it backed up 3 ways.
Yes, 365 causes space issues; I just upgraded to 4TB drives.
@danielwsc -- THANKS for your suggestions! When you say "bring out the shadows" do you mean reduce or deepen? I want to try another crop as you suggest. -- although this photo was technically taken before the challenge so doesn't really "count" I am processing it during the challenge week :).
I make a new library every couple of months, but the problem is that when I travel, I end up with about 8 - 10GB a day, and it's the aftermath of a trip that takes me awhile to clean up and do, as @taffy says, "ruthless deleting." What kind of drive are you using that gets 4TB? Is it thunderbolt and portable?
Awww....very cute to see him/her cuddling the workers leg. I think Daniel's suggestions for cropping and lightening the area around the little one's eyes are right on target, BTW. I found the chair legs a little distracting -- but you've had a ton going on -- so congrats on being back to posting!
@taffy -- chair legs! I didn't even "see" them because I was focused on keeping the little monkey's hand in, showing the tight grip on the pants and holding on while he was getting a ride on the shoe! I was focused on the story happening in front of me, so it took an outside set of eyes to see it from a visual point of view. Will post a more cropped one later.
@jyokota bring out the shadows means brighten them. @taffy is right, the chair legs have to go. I had a quick go in Photoshop using content aware delete, then cleaning up with the spot healing tool. I also brought out the shadows in Lightroom, and added a radial filter for a vignette. The result is in Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/xus4tn7x5uai336/4810646_bfkptx1258_l-Edit.jpg.
I have a 4TB hard drive in my desktop for backup, and another external non-portable 4TB drive for second backup. My strategy when travelling is to carry enough cards so I don't have to clear and re-use them, and to back the day's photos every night to an external 2TB USB 3.0 portable drive.
@danielwsc -- THANKS for all your work on lightening up this one, removing the chair legs, and cropping it tighter! You must have done it at the same time I was working on another version, too. I've never used photoshop so your description is foreign to me, but the result is dramatically improved over the original I posted here. Did you see the cropped version I posted here? http://365project.org/jyokota/challenges-and/2014-01-10

Such a cute youngster.
