Evergreens and Bare Branches

I love the lines created by all those bare trunks and branches. Nicely seen and captured.

Well spotted! How strange it looks lots of the trees are dead. Makes for a good image!

Such strong vertical lines created by these dead branches... very stark.

Sad as well if disease has killed all these lovely conifers.

My sister loved the naked trees. I guess I am so used to them that it takes me time to see their beauty.

Interesting contrast!

Those bare trunks are rather sad - many of the pine trees in the forest around us are being killed off by the processionary caterpillars.

@jamibann @pamknowler @rosiekerr @365projectorgsebgritt @joansmor @daily50 @cgribben @vignouse -- thank you for your comments. I photographed this because of what you say about the contrast of white lines that are stark against the dark green. But I didn't know what to write about why it was so. So sad to hear about disease and caterpillars killing them.

@daily50 -- I am back in Chicago now but what a fascinating article! Thanks for the link. At first, I thought you were talking about Ogle's Farm, which I will post soon.
