The Lenbachhaus is a museum most famous for its large collection of Der Blaue Reiter / The Blue Rider, a Munich-based expressionistic artist group that included Wassily Kandinsky, Gabriele Münter, Franz Marc, among others. Housed in an old Italian styled building with a modern wing attached, the courtyard invites lingering.
@casablanca -- thanks for even asking about it! That ligament is going to take a long to to fully heal, but it's gradually getting better. I've been on a mountain hike (photo to be posted!) so that means progress, even with a bit of a limp and some pain.
What a thrill that would be to see those works, and such a marvelous choice of images to show their location! I was unaware of your accident and bad ankle...you know I wish you the best...and a successful hike is good progress! Just remain careful!
@agedrunner@888rachel@golftragic@lyndamcg@rosiekerr@sailingmusic@pdulis@taffy@Weezilou@bkbinthecity - thank you for your comments! I've been mulling over why this view intrigued me so much, and I finally realized, that it represents the colors you most often associate with the Blaue Reiter Movement. It's that shade of blues, mustards, greens, that mix with reds -- an instantly recognizable palatte. The Lenbachhaus building is actually a deeper mustard than I was able to capture in this photograph. I've also been to Murnau to see the home in which Kandinski and Münter lived. On Münter's 80th birthday, she donated some hundreds - maybe even 1000 pieces of Blue Rider art to this museum.
@jyokota Would that I might have taken my 2 years of art history classes at this later stage in my life when I might give it my undivided attention! Is it to late to elect you to be my instructor? Keep going...I'm drawn in and listening! Thank you! ♥
@Weezilou -- you are TOO funny!!! I know nothing academic about art, having never studied it formally. I just like it. Ah, the things we wish we'd all paid attention to earlier, yet it's never too late to keep being interested in the world. Fun, right? I know YOU are having fun with all your musicians, too! I was only in Munich for three performances during the Opera Festival and I was able to go to two operas I'd never seen before: Andre Chenir and La Favorite. And, I got to sit in the "King's Box" :)
PS dare I ask......how's that ankle doing now?
