@jgpittenger -- It was a Sony trip. So easy to travel with only one camera. Thanks for your comment. I had several to choose from and I wish we could sit side by side so I could get your feedback!
Wow, what a colour! Are they edible? (Or only once?? I said that once to a group of school children I was helping with on a trip to a forest hunting for fungi. I announced "you can eat ALL fungi.......but some of them only once!" The teachers nearly fainted. I can be a bit of a tongue in cheek person sometimes!! Though I have to say my group were all terrified of eating any of them after that, so it worked!)
Thank you for your comments and supportive remarks! I had taken a few different takes on this, and I wish I could have lined up all of them to ask which you prefer and why -- so hard to make a decision sometimes. Some looked more natural, one more dramatic in contrast, and this one had the best "line"
@casablanca -- I have no idea if they are edible but after reading your comment about the edible fungi I wouldn't dare try to find out on these berries!
Lovely shot.. like @henrir said I think the ate beauty berries.. and as they are always covered in berries I don't think they are edible.. if the birds don't touch them leave them alone..
These callicarpa berries look lovely in macro. from Wikipedia "While the berries are not poisonous, they are very bitter. Wildlife will not eat them until there are no other available food sources." (I would never eat any wild berries....)

@julzmaioro and @quietpurplehaze -- the birds know, don't they . . . thanks for convincing ME not to eat them!
