They were cleaning the floor that day so all the pews were out.
And speaking of cleaning -- my computer is overstuffed and working slowly and crashing so I have been going through old files to see what I can delete and came across this one. I've gotten more practiced at processing photos since I originally took this a few years ago.
I posted this interior shot on 365 when I first took it 6 years ago but I hadn’t even straightened the lines. Back then, you had to do it manually in LR -- you had to use multiple lines and place them where you wanted things t be straight. Also in color, you can’t deal well with the multiple types of light inside so it looks strangely lit. So I converted it into a B&W with a red filter. I took this as a three-exposure HDR with one stop variance, but then tried to downplay the harshness of HDR by reducing the clarity and textures and contrast. Then I added the vignette with large feathering to bring the focus back into the center.
@kchuk@iris52@pandorasecho@carole_sandford@happypat thanks for your positive feedback! I added a paragraph above to indicate how I've grown in my ability to do LR processing, and how LR has advanced in its capabilities over the years.
When did you come to the UK? Would loved to have met you.
Have just read it and seen it was 6 years ago. Never mind. If you ever come again, let me know.
@shepherdmanswife this photo was taken six years ago. But pre pandemic I was in the UK fairly regularly for work or to visit friends. And at heathrow many times a year! @taffy and I had planned to make a photo trip to the UK last year but you know. The pandemic. So once things are under control we’d like to plan our trip and we’d love to meet you! What part of the country are you in.
@jyokota I'm central in the East Midlands in Leicestershire. From here you could do day trips to the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, Derbyshire. Yorkshire is beautiful and Scotland is even better. Wales is photogenic too, but would need to stay somewhere as too far. You are both welcome to come and stay for a few days if you wanted to. Let me know when you have made your plans. It would be lovely to meet you both.
I remember the HDR fad, I took more than a few myself. Someone once described the resulting pictures as “clown vomit”. Quite apt. You have done a wonderful job here reprocessing this image into b&w. It can be fun revisiting old images with today’s improved software and our improved skill at editing. Well done.

'If I ever get out of here . . . '
NB Thanks for sharing the post-processing method!
