Anatomical Theatre of the Archiginassio

Alternate photo for Urban Ex ONS4.

The Anatomical Theatre of the Archiginassio is also part of the oldest European university. An Anatomical Theatre was first built in 1595 to allow medical students to observe anatomy lessons using human bodies. The current theatre was designed in 1637 and reconstructed after the war.

Terrific symmetry here! It reminds me very much of a church in its design.

Do you think the railing is around the table because students would stand that close to observe, and had to be held back so they wouldn't bump the anatomists?
