Lamplighter and Gnome by jyokota

Lamplighter and Gnome

@Taffy -- come back! There's a lamplighter who walks around with a derby hat and long cape, carrying this long stick and lighting lamps all throughout the Cathedral area! This was a first shot, but I know I will be following him around, trying to get a better photo. He moves VERY quickly, and I had to jog to keep up with him (I have really short legs). He was amused by my attempting to photograph him and (I think) said he would be turning off all the lamps at 4am (I think?) if I wanted to photograph that as well. Perhaps. I'm not a morning person. At 4am, I've hardly gone to sleep from the night before. But then, I don't really understand Polish so maybe that's not what he said at all.

In any case, the story of the gnomes can be found here: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2015-03-07
This a great capture, windows' lights in the background, lamp itself and the shadow of the lamplighter. Sunrise will be at 5.40+ so he may actually turning them off about that time ?

@gosia -- I needed you here with me! THAT's what he was trying to tell me. He said pięć so when I held up five fingers to show I understood, he then folded down one finger (so I only had four up) and I thought he meant 4am but maybe he meant 5:40! Thanks for demystifying this for me. Must go out early one morning to follow him around.

Fantastic with the silhouette and the interesting light structure. What a cool thing to capture...I'm off to look at the golden light one too. Good luck taking more -- I also would not get up at 5:40 (and especially not at 4:00!)
