“Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will evade you, but if you notice the other things around you, it will gently come and sit on your shoulder.” (Henry David Thoreau) This zebra longwing has reddish-orange stripes rather than the pale yellow stripes I've seen in the past.
sweet! (lantana is such a noxious weed here it is always strange for me to see it. I have a team of regen experts out there on my property battling it right now)
@koalagardens lantana is native to Georgia and is a well-known butterfly attraction. This shot was taken in the butterfly garden at Smith Gilbert Gardens but we have a yellow lantana in our back flowerbed.
@k9photo yes, it's amazing how differently it behaves where it is native to - the canes here grow tens of meters long and just smother everything and all the tiny seeds spread fast. we also get a native bird that belongs in a particular type of forest that loves it, and if the lantana takes hold in forests or even open areas this bird shouldn't be in, they move in and predate on all the native birds.
yet back where you are, it is ornamental, pretty and belongs.
Gorgeous capture
