“One third, more or less, of all the sorrow that the person I THINK I am must endure is unavoidable. It is the sorrow inherent in the human condition, the price we must pay for being sentient and self-conscious organisms, aspirants to liberation, but subject to the laws of nature and under orders to keep on marching, through irreversible time, through a world wholly indifferent to our well-being, toward decrepitude and the certainty of death. The remaining two thirds of all sorrow is homemade and, so far as the universe is concerned, unnecessary.”
― Aldous Huxley, Island
Very thought provoking, so beautiful and soulful. There´s a lot of depth in you and your eyes and face portraits that. You have suffered in this life, I know that the loss you have endured has had its affect on you but you have also found strenght to cope with it, it has made you stronger and more beautiful. You are beautiful inside and out Kali, I think it would be impossible to not to be touched by your work, I know I always am
@annied I think the key word in the quote is ....who I 'THINK' I am.... so I have emphasised that... I dont fully agree that the universe is indifferent to us...
@susale I am always glad to know how I touch people, but I think sometimes my presence here via my work is somewhat crafted and I am not quite what people think I am... not that i really know who I am either .. but I am getting an idea... a work in progress. Anyway thankyou gorgeous girl for your kind words
You seem to be in that twilight realm of not quite a frown, but not quite a smile; as if you haven't made up your mind yet, waiting for the observer to project their emotions on you
Your eyes in this Kali - so beautiful and full of sorrow. The quote complements it so nicely, love your framing and the wave of your hair - just beautiful.
Lovely, revealing shot, Kali! It reminds me of one of my favorite Scriptures - Isaiah, chapter 53, written about Christ hundreds of years before He was born on earth. ". . . A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him." And it goes on and on describing the human condition God found Himself in as a man. Anyway. Didn't mean to sermonize! ;)
a beautiful image too Kali
Nice self portrait.
