I had to ask him to smile... he forgets... a small one only, but at least the ID picture wont frighten whoever looks at it. Sometimes my heart seizes in fear when I look at this young man... just because I love him so much but he is completely inscrutible. He is struggling, that I know. :(
I totally understand your fear! Unfortunately that doesn't make any difference... As @francoise says, the only thing you can do is give your love, which could make some difference I suppose...
@mastermek my fear is freaky to him, i overdo the mothering...he once told me to butt out, but he does need help on occasion so it is a fine balance to achieve
Intense stare - but also as someone who knows what he wants. You can only be there for him, he'll decide when to take you up on your offer. It is painful to watch and wait. But that seems the fate of a parent.
