taking a wee break from ocolom for some stars...according to google zodiacal light is..."a faint elongated cone of light sometimes seen in the night sky, extending from the horizon along the ecliptic. It is thought to be due to the reflection of sunlight from particles of ice and dust within the plane of the solar system." around the equinox is the fortuitous time to see it.
if you want to see some more panos i did tonight see here on flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/34602192@N05/
I am pretty happy with these, the merging by hand is working much better. although i have created some new constellations!
@sarraphoto tried out the vertical shots and hand merging, worked reasonably well, but i need a new tripod with a level! but of course the stars move in a rotation as well...tricky!
I found using a level helps me but it is a little tiny round one that I carry in my kit. I can rest on top of my camera to double check that I am on level, kinda silly but it works for me.
