its flying and its a bird...

well its in the frame, in focus, with nicely spread wings... . Tracking birds zoomed all the way in is much too difficult for me/// another problem is the sun was setting in the west over the sea so behind the birds flying along the coast, should try in the morning instead... I found using the sports burst mode worked the best on my sx50 , when using the continuous autofocus it goes black in between shots which isnt good for panning. but the burst mode is limited to how ever many shots and then you have to wait for them to be saved.... so i will try with the 450d next
I was trying to take a picture of some the other day and by the time my camera focused they were gone. That tells me auto focus isn't a good idea. But knowing when they are going through another thing. I hope to get to the beach and try.

Me, too. I've only gotten a few good flying bird shots over the years, usually sea gulls hovering above me.

Your image is intriguing me Kali - I find it quite powerful. As for the birds it is comforting to know that even those I respect fully for their skills and perseverance have trouble with catching them in flight. My attempts have been abysmal.
