I wonder if your gooseberries taste better than the gooseberries that I grew.. Mine tasted so very bland.

@blueberry1222 these are tasty, as they go red they sweeten so that you can eat them as is, but underripe they are tart and i will cook them in shortcake eventually, i popped these in the freezer until i have collected them all

@kerosene they have a tartness to them , especially the skin , usually they are used cooked with sugar, but as i explained to krista they ripen and soften and sweeten to a rich fruitiness if you can wait.

Mine never reach the red stage....gets too hot. I've since revamped my garden...i now have arched shade structures...should help

@blueberry1222 there are different varieties, some dont go red...they are a cool/temperate climate crop though for sure, they like winter chill
