Cyclone Gita, just getting going

I went out delivering newspapers this afternoon, while i was out there the wind picked up considerably, the rain was stinging my face and my boots filled with water. Already a few broken trees, including the purple flowered one in my @fiveplustwo picture last week :(
The centre of the low wont get here until after dark, time to get in bed and pull the covers over my head.

I've been watching the weather with interest. Looks like it's getting crazy. My friend is doing the cycle tour from Cape Reinga to Bluff and is currently cycling up the Rimutaka hill outside Wellington! Stay safe and warm x

I was just watching this on the news, it looks like parts of NZ was hit pretty hard. Very unusual for cyclones to be down that far south isn't it?

@kali66 It was strange up here. The day was lovely then suddenly we had a downpour for 10 minutes with a bit of wind and then it was wonderful. The weather this year has been insane. Glad all is well with you.
