st bernard

Caroline , my get-pushed partner asked me to look at Elliot Erwitt's work this week and i have enjoyed learning about him and viewing his images, great street photography, using funny juxtapositions and forced perspective. , this video was most interesting looking at his contact sheets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJjlou-dUYo
I saw many shots of dogs... the thing is his photographs are mainly happenstance kind of street photography and i haven't had much of a chance of finding something yet...but this is the neighbour's dog. This is the dumb one, the ones with attitude are barking at me from behind the gate, 15 years we have been putting up with the barking, and the new puppy has started joining in ... all day long... its maddening.
@carvl something... will keep looking

Lovely, the dog on the steps is awesome!

I simply can’t understand people. I love dogs and I have one, but why not educate them to refrain from maddening the neighborhood by barking? It is possible, I assure. Nice photo, Kali!

Perfect positioning!

@domenicododaro the most she does is shout at them to shut up...

Nice capture.

I like all the different things in this picture, the metal and wood and then the dog behind. Sad you have to listen to it all day.

Wonderful composition! I love the dog looking at you “with attitfude.” This is gorgeous on black, too. I’m sorry you have to listen to the barking all day, that’s no fun... for you or the dogs.

cool pov and shot

I like the way you have captured the sign and the dog in the same photo. Elliot Erwitt has some great street photography and I remember hearing he would get down to the dog's level and bark at it to get a reaction! You would have to choose one without 'attitude' I think! Sorry to hear about the noise problem :-(

@chikadnz yes well i am grateful for the fence! this dog's mother and the male dog of another breed are scary.

Great image Kali ... but am there with you ... the barking would drive me crazy too ...

Great shot. Love that the sign is almost falling off

The sign falling down probably gives a hint of their care factor. I do love the shot.

Perhaps you could purchase one of those sonic eggs that emits a high frequency noise that only dogs can hear which deters them from barking? We got one for my dog upon moving into an apartment and it's worked wonders with her barking.

@skippysue @jesperani @yrhenwr @alijchapman @bella_ss @transatlantic99 @henrir @nobled @joansmor @hrb73 @365street thanks i have been thinking of taking this shot for quite a while

@chikadnz i have had a lifelong fear of dogs so its unlikely i could do that!

@s4sayer @sandrajo from what i saw in a youtube video there are larger units that would be better as i cant get close to the dogs unless they are right down by the gate but they cant operate through the wood and such, you need direct line of sight, however they are not so useful for large dogs, and also if there is more than one dog barking at a time, there are three barkers! our neighbour realises its a problem, my partner walks past with his fingers in his ears lol. but she seems to think telling them to shut up while she is there is enough to show she is doing something about it, she wont realise that the youngest dog has joined in and is also barking alot itself when she isnt home . in the past she has used a bark collar but that dog eventually escaped and didnt bother barking at my son, just ran him down and bit him as he was walking past. that dog had to be put down and its been a sore point all along, she eventually made her place like fort knox which stopped the regular escapes. she just thinks we are not dog people so we dont get on with dogs, but w are not able to walk past without being barked at aggressively , even on our own property, and because they live on the veranda and can see us coming sometimes bark at us all the way down the street to the beach! its intergenerational, she insists on raising puppies with barkers :(

Aww, poor doggies left out barking all day...I bet it drives you mad though. We had that problem in our neighbourhood a few years back and reported it to the noise department of the council and the RSPCA... They all came round and tried to reason with the owner but to no avail...so someone (we know not who), took matters into their own hands and dealt with the dog..... :( :( It's a great photographic capture, so many layers and textures and the dog in the background.

I don't know how I missed this!! What a fantastic reinterpretation of Erwitts style - I'm very impressed!! The composition, the processing , it all works to create such an interesting style. Fav

Great shot.

I didn't see the dog at first somehow!

Hello~! As your get pushed partner this week, how about a shot of your favorite food (or replacement if it's not available), conveying visually why you like it so much?

That probably doesn't make much sense so, erm, if it doesn't ask for another much better explanation! Of course if you want something different i'll think of something else.
March 5th, 2018
@miseria haha food it is, hope my challenge for you was ok?
March 5th, 2018
@kali66 Yes it was (i'm soo behind on replying to people)! I'll see what I can do!! :D

I love the fact I had to take in all the detail of this shot. I saw the sign and then saw the dog. Brilliant composition xx
