I travelled to Queenstown to stay with this lady, we met 9 years ago online through a gardening webpage and have kept in touch, sharing seeds, plants, preserves and gardening advice but this was the first time we had met in person. I so enjoyed seeing where she gardens in an allotment style community garden, where she showed me plants i had sent her over the years flourishing there, I came home with a bundle of treasures to plant in my garden, I know we will always be firm friends, despite our very different lives, because of our shared love of growing things.
What z great tale. How lovely to have finally met. My (adult) girls are aghast when I plan to meet 365 friends and quote '#stranger danger ' to me. Lovely she posed for you Kali.
With that strong bond of gardening, you would have had a wonderful meeting. I'm surprised there is a community garden but the geography of Queenstown is so steep, there is probably no natural home gardens!
@maggiemae true, steep, rocky and south -facing, and lots of people renting or itinerant too ... she told me there was only a spade depth of soil here but they build raised gardens , large area well used.
