the romantic bit had me flummoxed until i looked up Romanticism, an art movement in the late 1800s , I came upon the work of Caspar David Friedrich, in particular this painting
They're both wonderful, but I think this is my favorite. It's like he's saying goodbye to the sun. (I just love the walking stick.) Great comparison to Friedrich's painting, although I think I prefer the mood and tone in your version. Feeling more of an affinity for nature, the sun and the sea here, rather than a sense of being in conflict with it (due to the storm and crashing waves as in Friedrich's). The softness of the clouds surrounding the setting sun, as well as the soft light, are truly breathtaking. It's nice to now that is also considered bokeh. (I thought it referred mostly to the points of light effect.)
@sandrajo thanks for the in-depth feedback with your thoughts about this, yes i know you meant the points of light but for this idea i had to use the alternate definition !
