Summer chorus

Saw my first cicada of summer today. Last year it seemed unlike summer without their cacophony drowning out all else. I’ve been finding their husks and hearing them for weeks but it was a happy surprise to see this guy just hanging out in a carpark.

yes, they started here only yesterday, usually they start on Dec 1, but it's been a cooler lead in to summer this year
