Hatley Castle, in Victoria, B.C., is a superb example of an Edwardian park, built in 1906 for James and Laura Dunsmuir hired an architect to build this mansion in the Scottish baronial style. Canadian Armed Forces acquired the property in 1940 and became Royal Roads Military College. In September 1995, it became Royal Roads University. This property is better known in film as Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and has also been used in the Smallville TV series (Luthor Mansion), and other movies and TV shows such as MacGyver, Seven Days, Poltergeist: The Legacy, Fierce People, The Changeling, Arrow, Witches of East End, The Killing, and Descendants.
