My mom, dad and I attended Cavalcade of Brass, which is a Drum Corps International event here in the Chicago area. This is our "home team", the Cavaliers from Rosemont, Illinois. It's hard to explain in words what the sound is like from a group like this on the field. It's like a huge wave that washes completely over you. The show was amazing and the Cavaliers took first place against four other corps. The nationals are in Indianapolis in August, and they are spectacular. We had such a great time! It was a fun way to close out the long holiday weekend. I'm a proud, happy band nerd!
September 2015 - I dropped my Nikon L22 at the arboretum (on asphalt!) and it's definitely broken. :(
October 2014- finally reached 365 photographs and it...
Best viewed large! The man in the green shirt on the 30-yard line is a judge. There are 2 or 3 judges on the field and another 2 watching from the top of the stadium. They look and listen to everything and record their comments in little digital recorders. They each have assignments - sound, visual, movement, how the whole show fits together and so on.
