After the voice of concession
Hears the last of heartfelt aplause
And leaves the stage
Beneath confetti bombs,defused
We are still here
As wringing of the hands
And gnashing of the teeth begins
In the visitor's locker room,
In the stands, staring at the scoreboard,
We are still here
There are Big days ahead
There are Important decisions to be made
That will effect us all
We are still able to connect and shape
We are still here
When the fire of the fervor
Returns to embers of the everyday
There are common cares and questions
Shared hopes and fears
And we are still here
Should darkest nightmares crossover
To the daylight of tomorrow
We must save our strength for heavy lifting
And make things right because
We are still here
But, in all, we hold dreams
With our brothers close at hand
We are not satisfied in the present
We are not silent in the future
We are still here
I thank you, Kevin, for writing about this in a very civil way. I'm most disheartened at some of what I've read around here. The "Silent Majority" tends not to be so vocal, and hopefully not so vulgar with even the expression of hoped-for assassination. Is this the same group who was voting for peace in this world??? As I said, and I'd like to close with a Thank You for your civility.
I love the shot too! Great lighting and best b&w --
