Late Arriving

I was told, one time,
that I was a late arrival.
Missed my intended birthday.
That's how it goes.

I appreciate the people,
who are kind enough
to show themselves to me.
But sometimes,
often times it seems,
it's regrettably,
in hindsight.

Then,
there are people
that we get to know long enough.
They're the ones
that we get the chance to know
well enough.

And, then,
Oh, then!
The time of our arrival
Is of no consequence.

Those special people
in our life,
are the ones that we will never,
ever,
be able
to love long enough
