The 'Crystal Symphony' Cruise Ship has arrived in Hobart and everywhere you go you are reminded of this by the tourists walking around.
It arrived around 6am this morning and will be staying overnight before it departs around 9am tomorrow morning.
The 'Crystal Symphony' holds 1095 passengers and 530 Crew.
Our Town will then get two days reprieve before the next cruise ship the 'Celebrity Solstice' arrives on Monday 8th of April at 8am before leaving later that day at 5.30pm. The 'Celebrity Solstice' holds 2850 passengers and 1500 Crew, so Next Monday is definitely going to be a busy day in town!
How do the locals feel about these types of cruise ship? I remember going to Bergen as a tourist and hating it when the cruise ships were in. The town was absolutely mobbed for periods of time, but just nicely busy once they had gone. A bittersweet experience, I imagine, as they do also bring trade to the towns where they stop. A very cool shot to record the event too.
Nice close up of this massive ship. This one comes thru our neck of the woods occasionally. I agree with Carol, not as pretty as the old classic liners.
This sounds like the stuff of nightmares!! The mayor and council up here ( Gold Coast) are badly pushing for a cruise ship terminal here. Most of the locals don't want it! Just looking at your image tells the story - it's a whole city of people who turn up and take over your town......
