This is something new for me. I don't have much experience taking photos of wildlife. I followed advice I got on this site to move along with the duck's movement. So, here's my first effort: A male Ring-necked Duck at the Constitution Gardens pond.
This duck dives for its food and it kept doing that at inopportune moments just as I had a good focus on it. This type of duck likes shallow wetlands; the Constitution Gardens pond apparently qualifies. I read that, of all the diving duck species, the Ring-necked Duck is most likely to drop into small ponds during migration. I was happy to see it drop in to D.C. for a visit.
Thank you for all of your positive feedback. It encourages me to look for opportunities to include more wildlife photos. I appreciate that this photo is on the PP today.
Love the detail and reflection!!!!
