The Presidential Box by khawbecker

The Presidential Box

This is the box at Ford's Theater in which President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865. The portrait of George Washington that decorates the box is the original portrait that was hanging here on the night of the assassination. It has a chip in the frame where Booth's spur caught on it as he jumped to the stage below to make his escape.

My brother and I took a John Wilkes Booth escape tour today that followed his movements into Maryland and Virginia before his capture and death.
What a beautiful view. Funny we both had Abraham Lincoln on our minds today. Sounds like a very interesting tour.

I saw this!! Walking inside the Ford's Theater was one of the many highlights of our trip to DC. You've captured it beautifully here!

@lesip Thanks, Leslie. It is funny that we both included a Lincoln photo on the same day. I love your Gettysburg photo.

So very cool. I did a tour in 1979 or 1980 of Fords theater. Did you go to the house across the street where President Abraham Lincoln laid down after he was shot.
