This is the lesser known monument to Theodore Roosevelt, America's 26th president. This monument was built in the 1930s in the center of an island in the Potomac River. It reflects Teddy Roosevelt's love for the outdoors. During his presidency, he set aside five National Parks, eighteen National Monuments, including the one that encompasses the Grand Canyon, 51 federal bird sanctuaries, four national game refuges and more than a million acres of national forests.
@bkbinthecity Thank you for our comment and the fav! This statue is hidden away in the center of a heavily wooded island. Most people don't even know about it. It's a great place to visit though and you must add it to your itinerary when you visit D.C. I agree about Teddy Roosevelt. He had a larger than life personality.
