Silver Eye by kiwiflora

Silver Eye

This is a suet ball for the birds - we get them from the butcher. They are full of seeds and bits and pieces for the birds. Usually there are about 3 or 4 birds on it at once, the rest of the flock of about 15 sit in the surrounding pittosporums, waiting their turn. They flit on and off the feeder, and are very difficult to photograph as they are never still for a second. We also get chaffinches and finches feeding here.
Nice capture! It's a pretty little bird.

Great capture Francoise, very well done. We have the same or very similar birds here and I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get a shot of one them since I started the project. They are super fast!

@csinger72 Thanks Cindy. We had a similar bird in South Africa called a White Eye (for obvious reasons!), greener and without the chestnut colour.

Nice photo. Never knew the butcher supplied suet balls. Don't think we have them in Australia.

@judi812 Thanks Judith. Not all butchers have them I'm sure. I found a butcher in Christchurch who makes delicious Irish pork sausages and he makes these suet bird feeders.

@ssimon @judi812 BTW, the pork sausages are for us, NOT for the birds!
