Terns taking turns on the waka

This driftwood log was popular amongst the local Tern population. They are starting to gather in readiness for the annual migration to warmer climates. I would love to join them as Autumn approaches. The term 'waka' means a traditional Maori canoe used for long sea voyages. These birds looked like they were about to start their own long journey across the sea.
