Cliff Palace Mesa Verde by kiwinanna

Cliff Palace Mesa Verde

Ancestral Pueblo people built these cliff dwellings around 1200AD. They grew corn, beans and squash on the mesa above and climbed up and down using handholds carved into the rock. I felt the fear just using the stone steps to get down and then had to climb back up 3 sets of 6 foot ladders to get back up again. As I have a fear of heights I was quite proud of myself but once was enough. The things we do for photography!
Looks really interesting. I'm with you on the height thing, so we'll done

@yorkshirekiwi yes it was scary but I did enjoy the experience and hearing about the history from the park ranger.
