It was good to see he had moved across the property and found a tree that he looked comfortable in. This tree is often used by several koalas here so it must have smells on it indicating it is a kind of community tree.
It was another good opportunity to practice trying for DOF with the new camera.
Thank you for such awesome questions and comments on my photos.
What a lovely shot of Dodge hugging the tree - I hope this means he is feeling more settled and may stay with you ! A lovely shot ,dof and lovely bokeh in the background ! fav
@30pics4jackiesdiamond thanks! He is not too high in this tree - probably about 15 m from the ground and I'm around 20 m away from the tree. that is pushing the lens on the new camera to its limit for detail on the koala really, but I was quite happy with the DOF. I'm now travelling the property each day with both new and old camera as the new lens simply won't handle a koala 30 m up a tree that is 50 m away from me :) I'm happy - best of both worlds!
If you have time and really want to learn about cameras, do consider joining Get Pushed. I was in the group for about 18 months or so and learned so much in that short time. Having said that, I've forgotten a lot of it, but it is so well worth it. I think Rob might back me up on that! @robz
@wendyfrost good question Wendy :) the missing fur is not from the car strike, but from when he was being examined at the vet - there are a lot of tests done including abdominal tap, bone marrow exam, ultrasound and all these need a patch of that super thick koala fur removed to perform. The koala is under anaesthetic of course for all examination procedures as they are wild animals. It does look a little odd out in the wild again with those patches!
