Purple Plume

For the Get Pushed challenge, Sean asked me to "...using oil, water and food colouring create a masterpiece in any way you can!"

I definitely learned a lot with this setup - including how challenging these type of photos are! I would like to have another go at it, but this is the best of my first attempt. I do love the movement, colour, and shapes that result from this type of play.
@slang ~ Sean - I left this push a bit long then was a little rushed with the execution - I want to try again sometime! And I will do a better job of removing the bubbles from the vase... I almost love this pic except for those! Critiques, hints, and tips are welcomed!

@lyno ~ Thanks Lyn! I photographed through a clear vase with a white background then increased my exposure in post processing to blow out the background to pure white.

What a great attempt! Awesome :) The best thing for the bubbles is to let the water sit for a while first and let it settle down. Very cool result!

A really good result! I'll have to try this too!

@if1 ~ Ian, definitely give it a go! A hint that I learned is to use a bit of oil on top of the water (I used baby oil, but I think anything would work). It seems to coat the water-based food dye drop so that it disperses slower and gives you more time for pics - without it, the dye mixes so quickly that it's hard to get your focus and get a shot away!
