I was shocked to see that one of the libraries in the area had burnt down. I had a chat with the security guard there and discovered that this had happened in the early hours of Saturday and that an investigation into the cause is underway. Nothing was saved - no books, nothing! Truly heartbreaking!
@ludwigsdiana No, Diana, not Somerset West, but the South Strand Library on the road to Gordon's Bay, opposite Greenways. It was a fabulous, well-stocked library and I often stopped there.
What a distressing situation! It looks like it has been there for a long time not like something that is fresh. I hope they figure out how it happened. Aside from the destruction it’s a very good photo.
Oh my word Gillian, that is a very sad list to the community! I would be lost without the library....hope it soon gets rebuilt & you get a good supply of books!
