My husband and his hired friend decided that it would be a good idea to rip the metal roof of the boat house yesterday. Neither looked at the forecast predicting 80km/h winds for today. To make matters worse, the new roofing materials aren't even here yet. The top photo shows the way it looked last night. The bottom is how it looked this morning after the tarp and roofing paper blew off and all over the neighbour's yards. The power line is BARELY connected and BC Hydro is coming to fix it, supposedly. It was like a hurricane!! It's been a real adventure this morning cleaning the mess up. I hope my husband's friend gets this dealt with ASAP!!
We are leaving NOW for a ferry that isn't currently running and going to Vancouver. We leave for Disneyland tomorrow morning at 7am so we have to get off this island sometime today. The winds are supposed to ease up.
The roof thing..... that is something I would do (ha ha). Hope you enjoy your time away and look forward to some great pics when you get back. Travel safely :)
Hope you got off the island in good order. At least it was your boathouse and not your house. That happened to me, the roofers took off my old roof and didn't tarp since the sun was shining at 3 when they left. At 6 when I got home it was raining. It took them an hour to get back to put on a tarp, and by that time it was snowing! I'm actually glad that it did snow, the damage ended up being minimal.
@mtngal Wow, that's an amazing story. Glad your stuff wasn't ruined. The ferry is about to dock. We drove two hours through snow and rain and got the first ferry that sailed today.
Wow, that sounds intense! Hope you're able to get on the ferry at some point soon! Great diary shots too...you'll all be able to laugh about it...some day! ;)
Wow! Crazy weather! I love Disney! Have a great time! You've gotta try one of there hand made candy canes! They only make them this time of year! Mmmm! Candy store on main street!
Hopefully the boat house will look better when you return.
Happy travels. :)
