We didn't make it to the beach until 3:30 today. It was really hot still so we cooled down with a shaved ice. We stayed until almost 6:00 when the sun was setting and giving off a golden glow.
Last summer I decided that it was best to get up and go see the sun rise and play for a while. Go and nap, eat, shop etc... during the hot parts and then head out to the beach about 3 hours before sunset and play until you can't see.
@jwlynn64 We often go to the beach early 8:00-8:30, then shop, explore or nap mid day. I'm not a sun person and try to limit the kids exposure during the hottest parts of the day. Today's late afternoon time worked really well.
The shaved ice looks tasty.
