I make a photo book highlighting the events of year. I start it in January and add to it after any significant events. I can't imagine doing it all at once! I use a company out of New York called My Publisher. This is my fourth book. The quality is fantastic and the service wonderful. They are really easy to make and have tons of layout options. I use their Buy One, Get One Free coupon and get two books. I put one away and display the other on our coffee table. I figure when I'm old and senile and no longer want clutter in my house, I can give each child a copy so they will be able to cherish the memories we've made. You can include captions (even paragraphs) if you want so I treat the book like a journal and make notes to remember relevant facts. I'm going to make one with all my 365 photos at the end of my year.
Love it, its a great idea. I have done a couple for kids at school. The place that I use to get them from have changed the upload and laying out process and it's now more trouble than it's worth. Might have to jump ship - cos yours looks absolutely fantastic :)
Love this! and the books look so really well made. I was given one a couple of years ago by my best friend with photos of my girls and am planning another one too. But like your idea better. will check it out!
Beautiful idea, looks fabulous. I would love to make one of these for each of my children. Always seem like I never have the time. I like the way you add as each event happens, makes the process a lot easier I would guess.
I love photo books. I have done several, and it is a great way to commemorate a milestone in your work. When I travel, I take them with me so my family and friends can catch up on what I am doing.
What I love is that you have explained that you stay on top of it throughout the year. . .what's really impossible is trying to put one together for the year if you haven't stayed caught up!!
@lyno The key to start it now!! I have over 500 photos in this book and I've labelled all the places, dates and key features. I'd never remember all that if I left it to December. When we went to Europe, I kept a computer journal and then transferred it all to a specific book I made for the trip.
@kjarn It does provide ways to share it via Facebook, twitter and email. I'm not sure how to do it here though. If you just google "my publisher" you can see examples. If you give me your email, I can mail you the link.
Oh good idea - my sister gave me a voucher for one as my Christmas present... the only thing that is stopping me getting started is feeling daunted at the task!
I had one made up of all my favourite shots from my 365 year which ended up to be about 120 & it was awesome, totally blew me away seeing them printed like that :)
@kjarn There's some technical difficulties with the site at the moment. I just called because the email wouldn't go out. They said they are working on the problem so I'll try again later today. I didn't want you to think I wasn't doing it!!
I love this idea. I have made photo books of vacation photos but have been overwhelmed with completing an album of a entire year's worth of highlights. So, if I understand correctly, My Publisher lets you keep a work in progress over the course of the year? That would really make a year's album feel so much more manageable.
@pflaume Yes, it's all on YOUR computer. You download the free software and then just work on it throughout the year. The only time you go online is when it's done and you're uploading it to the site. They deliver in less than a week... they are fabulous quality. I had one that had a slight bend in the spine and I complained and they sent me a new one the following week (and even let me keep the old one).
That is so wonderful, Kim. I always receive the e-mails with promotions from them, and have seen finished books at a friend's home, and they are really good. Congratulations.
Awesome! It looks great! I'm hoping to compile a photo book at the end of my 365. I want to do one with a 52 week project of the kids I did last year too. I like how you set up the little flowers to display with them. :)
