My son probably wouldn't agree with this title... he HATES to read but me, being a teacher, forces him to do it almost nightly. He struggles a bit so it's important that he work on his skills. When I saw Teddy sitting beside Gage on his bed, I posed him and then went about getting this shot, all while listening to the spellbinding (not) tale called Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I think Teddy was enjoying the story more than me!!
Thank you for all your comments and Fav's on yesterday's iPhone fisheye shot. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and check out my stuff.
I love this pic! But I have to say that nothing guarantees distaste for something more than being forced to do it :-) As the mother of one early reader, 2 "late" readers and one with NO interest in reading (yet!) I will say that allowed to come to reading at their own pace and having examples around them of people who love reading, there's not any difference now between the late and early readers. In fact the one that read the latest Is the one I find not just reading for pleasure, but for personal study of things. Oh, and it's "enjoying the story more than I." (if you're going to pull out the "I'm a teacher" card, you're fair game!LOL)
@m9f9l Ha,ha... Thanks for the grammar correction. It's been a long day! I exaggerate a bit when using the word "force" but I do strongly encourage him. I often just read aloud to take the pressure off and to surround him with literature and happy reading memories. He's more enthusiastic as of late and has been working through the Wimpy Kid series so I'm hopeful he's making progress in both his attitude and skills. I just don't want him to get discouraged as he's often comparing his abilities to his friends who read at a much higher level. It's definitely a balancing act! I appreciate your comments.
My grandson is reading a Wimpy Kid book too ~ but much prefers to read the sport pages on the newspaper [ whatever keeps him interested I guess :D ...esp. at 7 with all the technology he is faced with ipad/playstations/wii's etc ~ I buy a daily newspaper just for the sport pages :D]
A lovely shot. My boy is reading these books as well. He's not a big reader but he devours these books. He would much rather read a non fiction nature book than a story. We have to strongly encourage him too.
I love the b and w..xx
Love it! Teddy looks very affectionate! Brilliant shot! My 8yr old loves that series too. He's a little similar to Gage by the sounds of it, and isn't a 'natural' reader, but he's been enjoying my husband's old Footroot Flats comics. Its nice to pass on a love for reading, I wish I had more time for it myself!
love the pose - wonderful catch of the moment... as for diary of the wimpy kid... oy! i'm so glad my boy who loves this series can now read on his own... those books made me crazy! (and i actually took my boys to the movie - ugh!)
Great shot - my son struggled with his reading in primary school and we got him to read aloud each night as well...now at 15 he reads for about an hour each night before turning his light out!!
