Pink Salmon by kwind

Pink Salmon

My city is known as "The Salmon Capital of the World" and today I believe that claim. We went to the local fish hatchery and saw, what must have been thousands of pink salmon in the river. I could not believe my eyes. You'll probably need to view this large to appreciate it. There were more fish than water. The coolest thing ever. Not the best photo but I just had to share. We are having a record pink salmon return this year. They all stopped at this point because of a blockage thing that the hatchery has installed. They were collecting them and shipping them to other rivers.

Wow, that's a LOT of salmon! Do you guys go fishing? Is there a season when you can catch and keep? Can you freeze them?! Yummm.....love salmon!

@panthora There's different fishing seasons for different salmon. I've lived here over 20 years and never gone fishing. I'm far too impatient! There are minimum size requirements in order to keep them and you're only allowed a certain number of fish per day. People fish all summer and then freeze it to eat all winter long. In fact, we had salmon tonight caught by one of my dad's friends.
