A Sailor I could Never Be! by kwind

A Sailor I could Never Be!

It's windy here today and I spotted this fishing boat towing its dingy boat heading south in some major waves. I couldn't believe how high out of the water it could get and then how low. The dingy practically disappeared. In fact, I didn't even realize there was a smaller boat until I cropped the shots later. Not the most clear of images given that I cropped so much.
Great collage

Those are definitely some rough sees. I wouldn't have noticed the dingy either, that'd be a rough ride, but I love that it helps put in perspective how large the fishing boat is.

very cool!! fav!!!
November 4th, 2014
Wow, you got some great captures. Looks like it would be scary to be on there.

Coming back on the ferry once from Monhegan Island the waves were taller than the ferry which had a second story deck. Very scary going up and over the waves. There were a few sick passengers. This collage brought the memory back. Great shots.

those seas look really choppy :D scary
November 4th, 2014
Great collage!
November 4th, 2014
Wow I'm seasick just looking at it....
November 4th, 2014
I feel like throwing up just looking at it - I am a land lubber too!! Great shots tho!
November 4th, 2014
Scary seas. Not my kind of life either.
November 4th, 2014
Super cool capture:)
November 4th, 2014
Some intense waves! I would be fishing off the back ;-)
November 4th, 2014
Wonderful series! It does look awfully rough out there!
November 4th, 2014
Wow looks really rough!!
Great collage.
November 4th, 2014
Oh gosh, I get nauseous just looking at this boat's movements. Wonderful triptych.
November 4th, 2014
Great series of shots. I am going to agree with you I could not be a sailor either.
November 4th, 2014
Sue
Love the tripotych, it certainly gives you the feeling of movement, dramatic movement!
November 4th, 2014
Really pounding out there on the water. The sailors I'm sure have faced worse, but how can the not get sea sick ? Great collage
November 4th, 2014
A fabulous Triptych. I love the way that boat is so swamped.
November 4th, 2014
Great series
November 4th, 2014
These sort of fishermen and their boats are tough! We have some at the bottom of NZ in frightful waters and wind who still go out to fish!
November 4th, 2014
Wow - that looks scary. I like the triptych and the way it shows a progression. But I wouldn't want to be on the fishing boat OR the dinghy.
November 4th, 2014
The two boats are great to show scale! Neat trio shot!
November 4th, 2014
Really love the progression on this.fav
November 4th, 2014
Wow, that looks really rough. Great series of photo's.
November 4th, 2014
I've been out on such waves. It's hard to explain how jarring the impact with the water is.
November 4th, 2014
Was on FB saying "Been there, done that." We had a blue water boat to fish in the gulf or off Florida or GA coast.... IT had a T top/hard top. In really rough seas, the crest of the waves (as we were down in the valley) was higher than our T tops...so we had disappeared. Scary. And made me sick. COOL shot of this, Kim
November 4th, 2014
Nope, nope, don't want to be a Sailor either and sure don't want to be in that dingy!!! It sort of looks like a bobber out there doesn't it?? Love the collage and the action in these photos!!! FAV!!
November 4th, 2014
Don't think I would like to be on those sea's either... great shots..
November 4th, 2014
i am with you...calm water for me or I don't want to go. this is a great way to present it!
November 4th, 2014
Golly what a grand action view! Wonderful three-peat!
November 4th, 2014
Nice collage - it captures the motion nicely. So glad I'm not on that boat.
November 4th, 2014
I agree!!! Great shot captures . I just feel that motion and.....love boating, but on calm water please. Did you see this from your deck?
November 4th, 2014
Great series of shots. I am sure I would get sea sick on that boat
November 4th, 2014
Wow! Very cool and fun surprise!
November 4th, 2014
Oh my, that smaller boat is no fun place to be! Luckily it can be seen in the botton pic as well otherwise I would have thought it would have sinked!! Love how you made a collage out of these!
November 4th, 2014
Nor could I! But I like what you've done here--creative and vivid.
November 4th, 2014
this works really well to explain the motion great collage.
November 4th, 2014
Great collage.
November 4th, 2014
One of the hardest jobs in the world K, great shots...fav
November 4th, 2014
I agree with you. I am a sea lover, have lived close to the sea all my life but my love for the sea is for swimming - and in calm waters, too.
November 4th, 2014
Btw 3 great captures to show it off.
November 4th, 2014
Great shot!
November 4th, 2014
Super shots. Fav
November 4th, 2014
It does look rough
November 4th, 2014
What a great triptych. Hope there isn't anyone in the dinghy.
November 4th, 2014
Oh, I would be sea sick in a heartbeat. How can they stand it?!
November 4th, 2014
Nope, the sailing profession's not for me either. I'd be afraid of needing to be fished out of the sea myself. The dingy appears submerged in the middle picture!
November 4th, 2014
I'm feeling nauseous just looking at your shot.
November 4th, 2014
Great waves! Wonderful collage... it really shows the waves and motion. fav!
November 4th, 2014
Yikes! They look like they're almost going under... both boats. Great capture and collage, it really shows how large the waves must be.
November 4th, 2014
The sea looks angry! Nice series.
November 4th, 2014
A really good collage Kim and what a difference to the picture of the fishing boat on a calm see a week or so ago, Well captured
November 4th, 2014
Great set of pics which really demonstrate how difficult and dangerous a fisherman's life must be.
November 4th, 2014
@eyesmile I took this at my sliding glass door in the living room. It was nasty out so I got every thing set up on the camera and then quickly opened the door and took a few bursts of shots and then closed it again.
November 4th, 2014
You will have a great view of all manner of boats .......I can see the swell of the water here..."not something I would happily do either...dry land for me! I like the way you have done this collage.
November 4th, 2014
Yikes!!!! No thank you!! I would be the one on shore capturing it just like you did! You got some great shots!
November 4th, 2014
great shots showing how rough it was
November 4th, 2014
Great collage! I can just feel the rocking from here. You really need to develop your sea legs to stand those type of waves.
November 4th, 2014
Great collage, I agree with you, no stomach for it, just reminds me of morning sickness, horrendous!!
November 4th, 2014
wonderful capture, I wouldnt get on that boat even if you pay me lol. Ugh that would be too much for my stomache to handle I think
November 4th, 2014
Tree beautiful pic.`s of this nice fishing boat in the sea. Has been one of mine professions in life . And I loved It.
November 4th, 2014
Me neither......me neither...
November 4th, 2014
Lovely trio of shots, looks like the kind of day we had here!!!!!!!
November 4th, 2014
Awesome moody capture! Love the way the waves splash on the bottom shot!
November 5th, 2014
omg me either! I get sick on my in-laws' sail boat when it is calm. I would definitely be hanging over the side of this boat!!
