I should have posted this yesterday but got distracted by my bubbles (thank you for all your comments and favs by the way). It's not the most interesting of shots but does document the fourth car accident that has happened in front of our driveway since we bought this property 3 years ago. The night before last someone crashed into a telephone pole about 200m to the left of this scene. All the traffic slowed to watch and then there was a rear ender that happened just to the left. I didn't hear anything but looked outside to see 6 police cars, two ambulances and two firetrucks right out front. Traffic was stopped for a few hours. I went up and talked to the rear ending people and they were fine. I hope the original accident victims were okay! What you're looking at is our three lighted trees with a police car on the left and the giant fire truck in the middle that was turning around by backing into our driveway.
Cool shot! Now, tell me why all of these accidents are occurring in front of your driveway? Are you at a dead end? Could you put some mirrors or lights out there to warn them? Do you need to have your place Feng Shui'd?! It never hurts to examine the elements...;-)
@mittens@888rachel@lesip@panthora@eyesmile We live on a fairly sharp corner with straight stretched on either side, where the speed limit changes from 80 km/h to 60km/h. Unfortunately, most people ignore that and don't slow down. In the first accident the guy was on drugs and just missed the corner and went very close to the lit trees and through our neighbours fence. The next accident was with a cyclist and car who didn't take the corner well and crossed onto the shoulder and tapped a man on his bike. The third accident was literally at the top of our driveway (we had to get the driveway repaired). It happened because someone fell asleep and then crashed into the other guy. That was the worst in terms of injury but they lived. It's rather scary turning left into our driveway at times but I also signal well in advance and sometime drive past and turn around. I don't want to get read ended.
This is a beautiful photo of pretty lights under not so good circumstances....sounds rather dodgy turning into your drive. We have that problem here as our Kane is just over the brow if a hill. We have to indicate right at the bottom, stop on top of the hill if anyone is coming & then rush down & turn right. Some sensible drivers hang back but then you get some that hug the back of you wanting to be on their way. I have been known to go past & turn round too....you can be very vulnerable sitting over the hill waiting for someone to rear end you!
Great nice capture of the lights . so sorry for the accident. hope nobody is hurt. To slow down the speed we make threashold/barrier in the road . A kind of hills high enough to drive to the speed limit. No more.
Glad to hear all are okay!
are OK?
Did you know about all this before your bought the property?
