This was taken on Saturday when my daughter decided going for a deep in the Pacific Ocean would be a good thing! We live on the 50th parallel and it is winter here. She walked right in, dunked herself and walked out. It's hard to understand teenagers?!
Oh Burrrrrr! Hope you live closer to the souther border than I do...... In my part of the state it is way to cold for this, even though we are having weather in the high 70's. Can't help but notice she is the only one in the water. :-) Nice capture!
Brave girl. I'm just not sure that I could! But there was quite a large group that did the polar plunge in the Columbia River here on New Years Day. Lovely shot capturing her chilliness.
@swilde Haha... she must get it from her father. There's no way in heck I'd run into the ocean in the winter... I never even went in during the summer!
Now I know you remember being a teenager!! We did some of the dumbest things, that seemed so smart at the time!!!! LOL Ok, I know "I" did!!! This is such a cute photo and she does look cold!!! Still, how much fun could this have been...in my time it would have been the coolest thing to do!!! Love it in Black and White!! FAV!
That's funny. My sister just sent me pictures from Saint Petersburg on Monday of people jumping into icy river: It's a tradition in Russia for many to go celebrate Epiphany (19th of Jan in Russia) with a plunge into icy water somewhere. Here is one from Saint Petersburg: http://cdn4.img22.ria.ru/images/99003/84/990038445.jpg You picture reminded me a lot of that!
Everything about this picture looks cold so I can well imagine how the water felt! Your daughter is one driven gal. Bet she's glad you took pictures for proof of her bravery.
Being a Floridian for 45 years, it's got to be almost 90 degrees before I set foot in the water, and In the 80s, I have to inch my way in. But I remember when I was young and lived up north I went in a pool once when it was in the 50s. Great shot of the chilly waters of the Pacific and it doesn't seem to affect your brave girl.
@joansmor@tabarlett Yes, Polar Bear swims are very popular here but always happen on Jan. 1st at a local beach. Hundreds take the plunge. We went has a family once and watched. We were up at the local ski hill when it was happening or maybe she would have gone in then.
Great pov Kim.
