It was about 11:15am at this point and I was about to heat up some soup for lunch but decided to take the little wood bits from the work we had been doing to the burn pile (good job I don't like mess). So I dropped the wood and out of the corner of my eye I saw something red where there shouldn't have been red. I looked up and there's our boat!! The anchor did not hold and the boat was drifting where it shouldn't. I screamed "RON!! The boat is loose!!" We both went running, grabbed the dingy and put it in as close to the boat as possible. I gave him a push (this photo happened a second after that push). He had the dingy tied behind and the anchor on the front. So he put it into reverse at full speed and dragged the anchor back close to where it was supposed to be. We decided at that moment that it was time to go home. I told him to stay there and make sure the boat was holding and I ran up to the cabin and quickly cleaned up and grabbed our stuff. Ten minutes later I hear Ron's voice say, "A rogue wave got me!" I turn and he's standing there completely soaked!! His phone too but luckily it stayed in his pocket and didn't sink. Now here's a funny tidbit. Yesterday I told Ron to put the clothes he wanted into the tote. Guess want he brought with him... socks! Not even underwear...just socks!! His plan was to wear the same clothes both days. He's now dripping wet looking at me for clothes. Well, I'm the best wife ever and a few trips ago I packed us an emergency kit with an extra outfit each so he was able to get dressed. We locked up the cabin and headed to the beach with our stuff. The waves were coming into the bay (usually they don't) so our regular process for leaving the dingy on shore was not going to work. Ron wanted to tie it to the buoy and just go. I was worried it would sink with future rain water and suggested we just bring it home. So that's what we did! Happy to be home but looking forward to our next trip out.
I had a nice walk on the beach today and when I spotted a rock, leaf or seashell I was actually thinking about you " KWind will not miss that opportunity to shoot it " So my walk was going for ever.
What an adventurous day you had, glad it all needed well though and you are able to see the funny side. At least your hubby didn't have to go home naked.
OMG you made me chuckle and I’m so glad you’re both safe!
You should buy a waterproof case for your phone I have one from Amazon that I wear on my neck when I’m canoeing or boating......you can take photos with it in the case as well! :)
