I posted another shot of starfish in my main album. In that shot, the creatures were out of the water on the rocky beach. Here it is: http://365project.org/kwind/365/2014-05-04 People asked about the colour so I thought I'd post this one too. They seem to come in a variety of purple shades. This collection were all underwater in a small tidal pool. I used my polarizing filter to help bring out their colours.
@mzzhope I did hear about something killing the purple starfish (we do have oranges too) and over the winter I found several dead ones on the beach but by the looks of them today they are doing okay. There were literally 100s of the them.
